Product Description
Food Grade Glucoamylase SUPERMEI FD
High Concentration Version
For Saccharification of Starch Materials In Production of Alocol and Brewing
Halal and Kosher Certified
Description
SUPERMEI FD (EC 3.2.1.3, 1,4-alpha-D-glucan glucohydrolase ) is a high concentration food grade glucoamylase produced from selected strains of Aspergillus niger through submerged fermentation, extraction and refining processes. SUPERMEI FD has a high conversion rate from starchy substrates into fermentable sugars. It can hydrolyze α-D-1, 4 glucosidic bonds from the non-reducing end of starch one after another. It can also hydrolyze the α-D-1, 6 glucoside branch bonds of starch and cleaves the α-1, 3 bonds, releasing glucose.
SUPERMEI FD is applied to saccharification of starch materials in the production of alcohol and brewing.
Product Characteristics
SUPERMEI FD has a robust glucoamylase activity. Use of SUPERMEI FD provides higher alcohol yields, faster fermentation and lower starch residual levels.

Effect of pH and Temperature
Effective pH range for SUPERMEI FD is 3.0 to 5.5. For maximum activity, the optimal pH is from 3.5 to 4.5. See Figure 1.
The effectve temperature range for SUPERMEI FD is 30 to 65°C. The optimal temperature range is 55 to 60°C. See Figure 2.
Applications and Benefits
SUPERMEI FD is capable to saccharify liquified mash from various sources including corn, milo, barley, wheat, rice, potatoes and tapioca.
SUPERMEI FD has been designed to ensure the following benefits:
- Increased fermentation rate
- Increased alcohol yields
- Efficient starch/dextrin degradation
- Less starch residual level in distiller’s grains
- Improved performance in pre-saccharification processes
For ground-grain processing plants using simultaneous saccharification fermentation (SSF), SUPERMEI FD may be directly added into the fermenter. For ground-grain dry mill plants and for wet mill plants using a separate pre-saccharification step prior to fermentation, SUPERMEI FD may be added to the cooling mash or liquefied starch when the temperature reaches 55 to 60°C. Temperatures above 65°C can result in loss of activity.
Dosage Recommendation
In general, SUPERMEI FD is added at a dosage rate of 0.26 to 0.34kg/TDS. The exact enzyme dosage level is dependent on the type of raw materials, processing temperatures, reaction time and pH during the actual saccharification and fermentation process and the desired results in the individual alcohol plants.
Packaging
SUPERMEI FD is packaged in 25kg, 30kg plastic drums or 1125kg IBC totes. Customized packaging is available upon request.
Storage and Shelf-life
SUPERMEI FD has been formulated for its optimal stability. Typical shelf-life of SUPERMEI FD is six months if it is stored below 25°C in its original packaging, sealed and unopened, protected from the sunlight. The shelf-life of SUPERMEI FD will be eighteen months if it is stored properly at 0~10°C. Prolonged storage and/or adverse conditions such as higher temperatures may lead to higher dosage requirement and thus should be avoided.
Safe Handling of Enzymes
Inhalation of enzyme dust and mists should be avoided. In case of contact with skin or eyes, promptly rinse with water for at least 15 minutes. For detailed handling information, please refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet of this product.
